Saint Arnold Brewing Company hosted SCRABBLE in the City on Thursday, May 28 benefiting the Literacy Advance of Houston, the largest and oldest adult literacy provider. The night included an inspirational adult student testimonial, clever raps, costumes, prizes and a trophy. Participants also enjoyed an evening of dancing, Saint Arnold’s brews, a raffle, plus a Best Team Name and Best Team Costume contest.

The “Word Wizards” from Morgan Stanley took home the first place trophy after coming from behind for the win. While the “Urban Cowgirls”, came out second place and third place went to “How Do You Spell That?” from the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation. Special prizes were awarded to Melanie Fisk’s team, the “Wigged-Out Word Wizards”, for Best Team Costume and to Jolea Bryant’s team, “Two Snaps & a Twist”, for Best Team Name, both chosen by the night’s special guest speakers.

Proceeds from Scrabble and the City will go to the free adult literacy programs that the non-profit organization offers throughout Houston.
