TheFlyingSquid_020615_GrandOpening_VioletaAlvarez_0066Boom92 joined Flying Squid’s grand opening in the heights Friday evening.

The art gallery and tattoo shop brings excitement to their new neighbor as the party kicked off with local honky-tonks and loud music.

Guests at the grand opening made appointments to get inked up with well-known guest tattoo artists such as Weldon Lewis and Steve CandleMaker from San Antonio. They also got to enjoy from a selection of beers and spirits that had the party booming into the night.

“When Houston thinks tattoos, they think of hitting up the Montrose area,” renowned artist and owner Ben “Catfish” Perez said. “It didn’t make sense for us to open a new shop in an already over-saturated strip. We have love for a lot of the shops in that area, to open next door would be disrespectful. … We are excited to open our doors in the Heights, housing seven experienced artists and piercers under one roof,” the local business reports.

The Heights is now home to another nook in the Houston art scene.
